Abstract

In today'sworld, the pressing need forsustainable practices has become increasingly evident. The importance of sustainable product design in reducing environmental impacts cannot be overstated. There is the problemof depletionof our resources, climate change, pollution and improperwastemanagementwhichall hinder sustainable living.Thepurposeofthisstudyistoexplore solidwasteand convert it into sustainableJewellerywiththe incorporation of the Gye Nyame Adinkra symbol into product design development to minimize environmental damage. The study employed a creative art research approach under qualitative research adopting various tools and materials for the fabrication of the jewellery. The outcome of the study showed that repurposing solid waste that would otherwise end up in landfills into sustainable jewellery contributes to a greener future. The study recommends the government create economic opportunities for communities in product design and also incorporate sustainable development into design education.
